Hole 8

Our drone footage video tour continues with closing out our front nine, holes 7-9.

The back nine begins Friday, June 12.

Hole 7:

Standing on the tee, the most noticeable change is the expanded fairway on the left side, which really highlights the wonderful undulations in this fairway.  The approach shot is visually a little different now without the large elm left of the green, which was removed because it was causing significant shade on the green.  As a result of the tree being gone, the humps off the left side of green are now much more pronounced/noticeable.

Jeff Mingay:  “I’ve always thought the seventh is one of the prettiest holes on the course, but also that it could be presented better. Now, from the tee, more short grass brings some beautiful terrain to light. And, with the fairway twisting around bunkers, the hole has more dramatic lateral movement as well.

Hole 8:

The biggest change on hole 8 is the right fairway bunker.  This was shifted/turned, so it is more at an angle, less perpendicular to the line of play.  This was done to reduce the narrow fairway pinch point between the left side of the bunker and the left rough, where our turf had really suffered in the past.  The fairway turf between the bunker and left rough is now approx. double the width, improving playability and aesthetics.

The fairway and green underwent minor expansions.

Jeff Mingay:  “Whereas adjusting the fairway bunker was a practical change to resolve some traffic-related turf issues, widening the fairway also improved the scale of this hole. At a big, challenging par 4 like the eighth, the old pinch point at the bunker was simply too narrow.

Hole 9:

The fairway expansion on this hole is the most noticeable difference, especially on the right side.  Previously, balls would stay up top on the hill in the rough by the 150 yard post.  With the fairway expanded right, balls will now "run away" more to the right, providing more playability and challenge.

The green underwent minor expansions.

Jeff Mingay:  The ninth is laid-out over some wonderful undulation that was previously buried by rough. The revised fairway pattern here has given the tee shot view a wow factor. Great hole.
